Hey everyone! We're still on the road and about 8 days into our vacation. We're now in Minnesota after putting on around 1800 miles. (If any of you want to check out the blog I'm writing of our trip you can do so here.)The TT is doing wonderfully and my TV is also handling the trip well, even though we were pretty severely buffeted by high winds coming across Montana and South Dakota. Tonight we experienced a BAD thunderstorm here in southern Minnesota with HUGE hail. The TT is in pretty good shape other than the hail poking a hole in my bathroom vent cover. No RV shops or dealers nearby so I will work on getting it replaced when I get back toward Sioux Falls, SD next Monday. Quick question: When connected to city water, if the water pump is left on will it still draw from the fresh water reservoir?

By the way, here's a pic of our rig taken while going through Montana! :)

It probably could but it depends on the pressure differential. Usualy city is pretty high. If you hear it running, it's pulling from your fresh reservoir. Not a good idea though.

Go to Walmart and but a vent hood and put on. It will keep it dry until you replace the cover. They are much thicker and stronger, and will hold up much better to hail. I had them installed before I picked up my trailer, but it is an easy DIY project. I would get them for all of the vents, lots of bad storms this year.

Both units I have owned have used city over pump when both are hooked up/on.

You're welcome. The foil tape is sold at any of the big-box stores.

I was looking at vent cover solutions for the ancient plastic covers I inherited with my TT. The cheap plastic ones were certainly a step above what I had but would probably degrade in the sun just like the originals. Metal covers are available but I like the light through the vents. I also looked at the vent hoods and that is a good solution since the vent cover can be opened and fresh air allowed to flow without any worry about the weather. Those are on my to-do list, this Summer.

Man, "Round Two" on your blog looks like a pretty good pelting of hail! Hope you don't see any more of that!

I had a cracked vent cover on my TT (actually had holes in it) and I taped it with HVAC foil tape. It held up for a few months, until replaced with a DIY polycarbonate cover.

Have fun on the rest of your trip!

If you don't have one, a good weather radio would be good. We check the weather 5-10 days in advance and try to avoid severe weather. Of course, sometimes all you can do is hunker down. Be safe. Thanks for the update!
