Update on my new Ram 3500
Well our anticipated west trip has finally materialized and I have an update. The new 3500 is awesome! I can't believe how well it pulls our Mobile Suites. We did have a small glitch though. Started out Sunday morning with full fuel tanks and DEF tank. Left Milwaukee headed for St. Louis area for the night, we didn't even make it to Bloomington IL and the fuel gauge was approaching "E" and the DEF tank gauge was showing just about half! I couldn't believe it, a half a tank of DEF in just under 200 miles. something's way wrong here.
By the time we pulled in Union MO I was at one third tank of DEF and really low on fuel, we hadn't put on more than 400 miles. I don't know what happened but we took off Monday morning heading southwest and stopped in Rolla for fuel and DEF. topped off the tanks again and resumed our southwest heading. From there things improved drastically! We're now sitting in Tumcumari NM, I'm at just about a half a tank of DEF and after checking the mileage (hand calculated) on the diesel we are getting about 9 or 9.5 MPH I was hoping for a little better but I have to keep reminding myself it's a new truck. At this point we don't even have 2,000 miles on it.
The RAM pulls up the grades so nice it's not even funny and although we haven't hit any substantial down grades yet I can say with the EB set in "full" and in tow/haul with the cruise on it holds the grades way better than I anticipated.
I'm very happy so far, can't understand what happened to that first tank of DEF, maybe the deal filled the DEF tank with crap, outdated DEF I don't know but everything seems to be falling into place now.
I love my new RAM. :B
