It seems hilarious to me that people shun the capitalist open and competitive markets (IE, those that buy Toyota or Honda, made in the USA products) and support the socialist policy of the GM bailout... then have the ignorance or audacity to say that buying a Toyota is "un-American" but buying a GM is somehow "American".
Your version of capitalism could easily be the downfall of the USA. Your government knows that and stepped in to prevent a major portion of US controlled manufacturing to go under. I seem to remember reading about the competition (Toyota, etc.) being propped up by their governments too.
Your so silly Billy. As long as it didn't cost any of them why would they care. I have posted time and again about how the imports were getting cash from thir Government but they could care less. If the banks would have refinanced GM and Chrysler we 2 old not be having this conversation.

Indeed. I know this! :)
But, in honesty, my point was actually above and beyond the simple economics argument. I was also alluding to national security. Having spent a lot of time on ships and in shipyards in the 80s and 90s, I learned that the bulk of that industry was already long gone. The Navy was already finding it difficult to maintain our ships domestically.
