Had a U-shaped dinette, never again. To cramped and uncomfortable.
It is more comfortable in that you can use the bench seat as a recliner but that's only if no one else is sitting by you. Otherwise it's cramped at the corners.
Each to their own as I know some really like them as the poster but I believe others feel as I do, and manufacturers are following that.
