The six speed arrived in 2007? THat helps a little. in three or four years those trucks will be fully depreciated with a lot of life left in them.
I'm not completely sold on the consensus here but I am cautious about considering upgrades.
Ya'll seem to be sayign that Ford made the truck about as good as it could be at the time and anything I bolt on will be counter-productive.
1. That makes sense in general but it is not the case all the time. Electric fans, for instance, they do buy some efficiency and when truck makers really want to squeeze out the performance they go that route, i've seen it on Chevy half tons with the 5.3. But it's a small gain with higher cost and increased reliability problems. -- still might be worth the effort for me.
2. The truck was intended to be a luxury SUV and people carrier. There are compromises for comfort and performance that i am not interested in. We use this truck exclusively for towing so there may be improvments to be made when those compromises are removed from the discussion.
