upgrades to improve towing in a 2001 Expedition?

Subject truck has a towing capacity of 7100 lb. Adequate to pull our 5500 lb Vintage trailer around (74 Boles Aero) and there are no plans to trade in the truck. I'm a middle aged guy with two kid...

If this is a dedicated TV, you should consider a V10 Excursion or 3/4 ton 8.1L GM SUV of 2000-2006 era. Should be a bit less money than 2007+, towing performance is outstanding.
