The expeditionary vehicles: Global Expedition Vehicles, Tiger, Earthroamer, etc. do it all the time and I'm not sure how or what it takes for the individual to accomplish it. They routinely convert a dually into a SRW and maintain the same payload capability with 20" mil spec wheels and tires.
I just mention this because you seem like you want dually payload with a SRW and I've never seen anybody do it except for these type of companies.
Check out Rickson wheels for DRW to SRW spec wheels.
Are the rear axles and springs different between DRW and SRW on the new 3500's?
On our 2006 same part numbers between SRW and DRW models.
Not what I was going for as I don't want the 19.5" wheel/tire combo. It's my understanding that the expeditionary/mil spec versions have bead lock and can be aired down really enhancing offroad capability.
