4.10 gearing is the best compromise. DRW are the way to go. The Dodge brakes are not the best in the world. But the engine brake is. The day that I bought my Lance 1040 the tire pressure was for normal driving. I thought the truck would tip over leaving the parking lot. 60LB was not enough for the extra weight. Max tire pressure cured that problem.
Congratulations, on your new Dodge Ram DRW 3500. I thoroughly enjoy driving mine,
it's "Sheer Driving Pleasure", forget the BMW.
Edidie's comment on 4.10 gearing is spot on. I had 3.73 on my 2011 Chev Silverado 2500 SRW Longbed Supercab, but now with 4.10, loaded or unloaded, gives supreme passing power at 60mph and I run 80lbs on all my tires with EC1160 loaded. Engine brake is marvellous.
Happy Travels.
I have a DRW truck while not a dodge, and a BMW. For "Sheer Driving Pleasure" the BMW wins hands down every time, but when I loadup my TC I always choose the truck for "Sheer Carrying Pleasure"
