Hey gang, I am looking for a way to get a little air moving (either blowing out or sucking in if possible) when we boondock and let the camper breath when it is parked in my driveway without worrying about rain. So with that thought I was wonder about, changing out my bathroom fan and possibly add one to my bedroom vent and adding covers to both of them. I have done some research but wondering if there any options I am missing. Thanks!

Thanks Soundguy that was helpful! Now what about the fans themselves. I would like something that is reversible and some what quiet. This will primarily used when we stop to sleep in a parking lot somewhere while traveling just to get some air moving. Possibly one of them drawing air in while at the other end of the TT pushing air out with the windows open. Thanks!

I think the Maxi fans are varible speed but not reverseable. I have the Maxi large hinged vent covers. Pull couple of pins and they tip up for easy cleaning. Maxi fans pull quite a bit of air with window open.

Hi,Fantastic fans are reversible, and their warranty service is top notch. I just bought one for my van, and plan on installing it soon. The ones in my motorhome have been running without problems since I installed them in 1996.I already had one with a thermostat, and moved it from my older class C to the new one. It went into the bathroom, and normally was set to come on at around 75F to keep my dogs cool. The kitchen, I worried about water dripping in so I bought a rain sensor system, but that turned out to be a waste of money, as I installed Maxx air covers shortly after buying all of them, and they have worked out great in the last 19 years no problems. The rain sensor has a really noisy motor to open and close the hatch. AS I normally leave it open, it does not bother me. However when there is really high humidity, it can start to 'close' and because the handle is not latched (for manual operation) it will not reach the high amp limit to determine it is closed, and will keep running the open/close motor until I get home.(or wake up). So I would not recommend the rain sensor model, though in the past 19 years they probably have a much better design. Also the Maxx air covers protect the Fantastic covers from sun damage, all are still in great shape. I will need to replace all 3 maxx air covers this summer though. The bedroom fantastic fan is just three speeds, reversible. I did not get any options for it. I either want it on or off. The fan that I bought was from Amazon.com and just a basic model with thermostat. I plan on letting it run to cool my handicap van in the summer. I will have a solar panel to keep the battery full.SunElec.com has solar panels in the $1 - $1.50 per rated watt price range. Look for one with a metal frame, and 12 volt nominal rating. Usually I will set all three of my Fantastic fans to exhaust, and then leave 1-2 windows open about 5". This quickly draws air into those windows (at high speed - what I want) to cool me off if I am near that window. Each fan is rated at 900 CFM on high speed at 3.1 amps. My solar system keeps up with the fan demands during the day, and at night I camp in areas that are cooler, or pull into a full hookup park and run the A/C unit. Good luck!Fred.

I was more concerned about the fan itself, but this makes me think may be I should go with a lower model fantastic fan and just get one of these covers. Then rain sensors won't be an issue and I won't necessarily need a remote cause it can stay open and on and if I can't walk 10 feet to turn it up or off then may be I have bigger problems....plus it could stay open while traveling and while raining.

I have 3 dogs so being able to give them comfort when we're not in the trailer is of utmost concern.

Also, I'm curious how hard wiring it up will be. I have LED lights about 2' from the port where I want to put the fan, but when discussing it with a service rep, he said that may overload the circuit, which means I'd have to wire it up elsewhere.

I really don't want to get halfway through this project and find out it won't work and then have to pay someone to finish the job.

Here is a pic of the kitchen area. I'm going to replace the vent with a fan....where should I go for my best hookup IF going to one of the LED lights won't work? The circuit breaker box is under the pantry right where the far corner of the island is blocking the cabinet. Not sure if I Can hook it in there somehow, but that seems like a pain in the ass. Also, note that the stove and microwave are on a slide, so anything on that side I couldn't hook into.

You can always get a lower model Fan-tasting fan and buy the upgrade kit later if you feel you need the features.

So in the end, if you had to choose between the MaxxAir 4500K (http://maxxair.com/products/maxxfan/maxxfan_standard_remote.php) and the Fantastic Fan Model 7350 (http://www.fantasticvent.com/fan-tastic-vent-s-retail-12-volt-fans.html#model7350), which would you choose.

I'm about to upgrade and can't decide between these two. The MaxxAir is cheaper on Amazon, but I've hard more great things about the Fantastic Fan. It seems you really can't go wrong with either, but if I'm dropping $200 on a fan, I want the best.

Thoughts?

I had Maxairs, saw the video, bought the Fan-tastic vents. Nice complement to my Fantastic fan upgrades.
