I'm looking for a small upright 120V vacuum cleaner I can run off my Honda Eu2000i to clean the carpet and floors up of all the dirt that ends up getting tracked in while dry camping.It should be small, relatively portable, easy to maintain, and fit under the bench seat of my booth seats /table. Should definitely have enough beans to suck up cat litter, and have a motorized brush roller of sort with good suction too, not wimpy. The genny can power a pretty decent sucking motor.Any suggestions on what you like, model and brand wise, and what you don't like?

How much carpet do you have? Could you get away with a dust buster? We have no carpet so we just use a broom. We know a family who have a small area of carpet and it sweeps clean with a broom, then she vacuums it when they get back home.

I tried a dust buster and it turned out to be almost useless. I suppose others may have had good luck with them, but I found it very under powered.I use a tiny shop vac like the the one sbowman mentioned. It's not an upright, but it's small enough to toss in the storage area in the front of the trailer when not in use. Works well for everything including getting dog hair off of everything, as well as being able to vac out the truck when I am out for extended periods.

A Dyson portable, might meet your needs.Have you considered installing a central vacuum? Then you could store the hose under the bench seat easily.

Shark makes some light weight ones that are bag less.

I picked up a used Shark upright at GOODWILL for 5$.After I cleaned out the cat hair It purrs like a kitten.

I have had this for years..love it. The handle collapses fits in my closet. I even bought one for home.

I tried the dirt devil, with 20 feet of cord, it seems, and it just doesn't really lift the dirt and rocks out that get trapped in the crevasses of the soles of my shoes/boots and released inside on the floor. So yeah, stand up model it is. Cleaning up and camping in a RV is a never ending chore, it seems, it's dirty business. It's so dirty, I shower and clean up before going to bed, to keep the sheets clean on my bed, and just use the wash basin and wash cloth in the morning to wipe the sleep off my face.

I have a "feature" called minimum carpet (gotta love the marketing bullpoopers) so I only have carpet under my dinette and the bedroom. So my stick vacuum will do just fine. A lot depends on how much carpet you have. It is often easier to just use a broom with all that minimum carpet I have. :)

X2 on the Nano. It is the best lightweight upright we have seen. One in the stick n' brick, the Bissell we had got demoted to the trailer cuz there isn't as much to clean.
