There are so many exceptions and caveats written into the new Cafe standards that I really doubt Ford will have any issues. The truth is that while the Cafe standard may mandate light trucks meet an average 30 mpg target by 2025, the actual EPA window sticker you would see on a truck that meets those standards is only 23 mpg.
About the only thing you are going to see out any of the truck makers is the pushing of their smaller turbo or diesel engines with some aerodynamic refreshes. They'll still be plenty capable and still sell like hotcakes.
