I know an owner of two of the TDI's with the modified emissions. She is still a VW fan because of the good treatment she has received from her local dealer and VW USA after the scandal. She loves her TDI and her husband got hooked on them too. They live in an area where emissions are not tested, so they hope they do not have to return theirs to VW or have them detuned. There has been talk about restricting owners from renewing registration regardless where they live unless they have a recertification document stating their vehicle was modified to comply with emissions...
Speaking with other Aussie's, their vehicle standards have plenty of room for improvement - I'm not sure why someone that has little chance of buying a US centric vehicle is making a ruckus other than jealousy? What I cannot have, I will disparage.
