2500HD's are underrated. The rear axle rating is 6084lbs with stock tires, and the truck only weighs 2800-2900lbs on the rear axle with an empty bed. That leaves you 3100-3200lbs of axle capacity for a camper.
These trucks don't even squat with 2000lbs in the bed.
I know some people throw on 19.5's and stuff sections of well casing between the axle and frame to hold the rear end up, then plop a 4000lb camper on a truck like that.
