I have often wondered if a small electric aquarium or reptile heater pad would work on a small water tank.... just enough gentle heat to keep above freezing when you have shore power. Plus very small footprint.
From what I have been able to research they probably don't get warm enough to really help. But they are cheap and I've always wanted to try one to see if it kept the compartment above freezing.
