Don't be intimidated. It really isn't difficult, and the reward is knowing exactly what your rig weighs. That alone is worth any hassle of taking a trip just to the scale and back. I found that my local CAT scale was very accommodating for my RV. Take your time and get all the reweighs that you need to get your numbers.
FWIW, I went on an early Sunday afternoon when the truck stop was not very busy. Nobody was using the scale the entire time I was there, and I had plenty of room to drop the trailer in the truck parking area to get my TV weighed.
