- Golden_HVACExplorerFord is making 600 HP in the Ford GT 3.5L Ecoboost. Why would they double the displacement without a substantial increase in HP??
Also a 600 HP engine in something like a truck would require a huge radiator. The van is limited to a smaller output V10 due to overheating problems with the limited space available for the radiator. I am sure that could have been fixed with a 4 core radiator, but they decided to just go smaller HP engine with 2 valves per cylinder instead of the F-350/450/ 550 362 HP V10 with 3 valves per cylinder.
Also current model pickup truck transmissions are not really good for that kind of HP and massive torque output. I guess it would be fun to think about though!
There are companies that put turbochargers on anything. I guess you could turbocharge a normal V-10 and get a massive amount of power out of a kit, probably only going to cost something in the $8,000 range? And a big beefed up transmission to back it all up. ..
