GM did make a prototype V 16 with two small block Chevy V8's, think it was for a Cadillac show car. Also in the '60's GM made a highway tractor, gas V12. This engine was made by joining two of the old highly regarded GMC 305 cube V6's together.
Also back in the '40's there were a couple of heavy or medium duty duty trucks, that were powered by two Ford fathead V8's. Don't believe this was a factory job, just an enterprising and resourceful hauler, who wanted more power.
