As I understand, the reason Ford dropped the V10 from the "light truck" line (F250/F350/F450) is because they are now included in the fleet-average-fuel economy and the 6.2 V8 is slightly more fuel efficient.
The V10 is still available in things like the chassis-cab frames though.
Ignoring fuel economy, there is an old saying "There is no replacement for displacement"
