For me it really came down to wanting a new truck over used. I did look at a couple '10 F250's with the V10, but I decided to buy new. That way I got what Ford claims is all the new technology, a warranty, and better mileage. I'm seeing almost 14 empty, 9.5 towing hand calculated for the first 1500 miles. Should get a little better after I rack up about 5K miles if you can believe what some say. I have a close friend that owns a V10 and he's lucky if he gets 12 empty. I believe he has the 4:10 gears. I'll reiterate though, you don't buy these trucks for mileage. His truck is a '99 which is the old 2V motor. It's got 210K miles on it and stills runs and pulls hard. A testament to what was said earlier that the V10 is a proven worker. I've driven his truck many times, and I now have a new 250 with the 6.2. Which one would I rather have? Even if the V10 truck was newer, I'd rather have mine. So much nicer overall package, and yes I can tell you that, as was mentioned, the 6.2 pulls very hard off the line towing. It'll flatten out a bit, then come on strong again over 3500 RPM's. I bought a 2013 off the lot to get the rebates, which saved my quite a bit, but I somewhat regret not ordering to get the 4:30's. That is my one and only regret, but it's really not that bad given the weight I tow.
