Venting the trailer while moving?

Have yet to purchase my trailer, but a question came to me that was not an issue in my Class C. I was thinking that it will get hot in the trailer during traveling and then when I have to stop for dinner and enter a the trailer, or use the bathroom, yikes...

Do you vent the trailer someway while you are traveling? Do you open a roof vent while it is in motion?

  • Don't leave the vents open if you are traveling on an unpaved road unless you like a coating of dust on everything when you arrive.
  • I have the maxx air fan mate. Best addition I have made to the trailer. I leave the vent open all the time, except when running heat or air conditioning. Even in a driving rain storm it keeps the rain out.
And it's an easy install. DIY in about 15 minutes.
  • I seal mine as tight as possible, due to aerodynamics. On my last trip one of the bedroom emergency exit window latches came loose and the window was flapping violently in the breeze at highway speeds. I had to pull over immediately and re-secure the window before it got ripped off the hinges.

if you just have the vent cover on the vent, then no do not leave it open. the wind will rip it off before you get a few miles down the road. if you buy the maxx air vent covers you can leave the vent lid open with no damages.

I should have them put on a max air vent when I place my order. Thanks.

  • Leave a couple of windows cracked, and leave one of the Fantastik fans on low.

I leave the roof vents open under the MaxxAir covers. I've done this with different rv's for many years and it works well but on very hot days it doesn't really cool off that much.
