Very interesting exhaust manifold brackets !!

Just saw on u tube company that makes corner brackets to tighten up the manifolds on GMs small blocks that have busted bolts. This is a permanent fix and feedback is good. Instead of digging those old stuck bolts out just bolt these babys on. No drilling uses all exiting tapped holes. With 200,000 on my 5.3 and one broken bolt might have to pick a set up now and forget it !!
  • Oh and thanks for the link. I don't have the problem yet with only 34,000 miles, but worth getting a set and putting on there. Maybe it will help prevent it from happening.

Pretty common to break off exhaust bolts in many applications. The LS series of motors uses a small manifold fastener and after many heat cycles will break, or break off coming out.

The old BBC would do it as well. The manifold would heat up and warp. That is why some guys would cut them in spots to reduce the chance of the warping breaking bolts. It would generally happen when you went to take them off to fix a leak, which was also common because of no gasket from the factory.6.0 broken exhaust manifold bolt

You are just messing with different stuff.

  • I repair these broken bolts all the time, it does not cost that much if you find a shop that does not overcharge, I have competitors that charge 2 to 3 times more then I do for this job, I don't drill the broken bolts out, i have alternative methods of removing them, and the job is done right.
  • Thank you Mark for the information. It looks like an easy fix for a potentially expensive problem.

  • Sorry, kralautoparts.com then you can watch video. seem to be around 30-40 bucks per corner bracket.
