Doesn't work that way, this forum cannot access YOUR own personal drive whether it is your PC or a external HD to showa picture in a post.

To post a photo on this forum that is NOT your signature line requires a URL hot link to a ONLINE Internet storage website.

Your signature line photo is the only photo that IS hosted by this forum.

PhotoBucket is one of many online storage websites.

The folks who have their photos on PhotoBucket have not "lost" the photos, they STILL can access them. The problem is PhotoBucket changed the TOS to NOT ALLOW FREE ACCOUNTS HOT LINKING.

To restore the hot linking one must now PAY A FEE to PhotoBucket..

Unfortunately for what ever reason, PhotoBucket decided $400 per yr is a fair price for this service..

You raise a good point. You should demand that they refund your registration fee plus 10%. (And thanks for posting this very useful post.)

It did not cost you a penny to READ the forum.

And you are totally incorrect that this is the ONLY forum that does not "host" photos.

In fact it IS the NORM for MOST forums to not "host" photos and REQUIRE you to have YOUR OWN ONLINE STORAGE WITH HOT LINKING CAPABILITY.

It is not the fault of this forum that MANY of the folks who posted pix here just happened to use PhotoBucket.

Many of the folks on other forums have ALSO been affected by the change of PhotoBuckets TOS.

While it is unfortunate this has happened it IS not unusual for any website to alter their TOS.

I myself went through this same issue with SEVERAL online Internet storage websites, one paid which took my second years money then turned off the lights on their website and the other was a free storage (not PhotoBucket) that ALSO changed their TOS to not allow FREE storage to have hot links.

In both cases I had the choice to fix all the links or abandon the posts.. I chose to abandon since it was going to be too much work on my end for a FREE FORUM..

As far as the posts with missing pix being "useless", some folks may take the time to repair and some like me may decide it is too big of a job. Either way, it MAY TAKE TIME for those folks to either fix or give up. Give them a chance to figure it out.

As far as PhotoBucket goes, well, it IS THEIR WEBSITE, THEIR SERVERS, THEIR MONEY. The problem is free hosting of pix with hotlinks does not generate ad revenue and it costs money to operate..

All older threads with pictures hosted at photo bucket will be dead now due to them requiring a premium license for photos to be viewable on third party sites.

I disagree. "MANY" are not useless. Some are less useful. Most of the novels I read have no pictures.
