Airstream Basecamp - bartlettjExplorerOne of our biggest disappointments in going from a popup to a TT was the major reduction in window area. There's nothing like zipping all of the windows open on a popup on a nice fair day and turning it into one giant screen room. This is part of the reason we want our next trailer to be a rear living room 5-er with glass on 3 sides.
- Tom_TrostelExplorerOur 1980 17' Bigfoot has 7 windows that total 39.25 square feet (5652 sq. in.). That is not counting the frosted 12" x 20" window in the door.
- Dick_BExplorerThe most usable amount of windows at eye level that we have owned is with the Trail Manor which may, or may not, be made anymore. It's a shame if it is not because from an engineering stand point it was really clever the way the top folded into the bottom and towed like a popup.
- myredracerExplorer IIGet one with a rear picture window for the most light. We used to have a Coachmen Catalina 20RD (20' long) and it had one and had a rear dinette. That big window is one thing I really miss in our current TT.
How small is small?
Most TTs tend to have small-ish windows and are also low down. "Very small" doesn't go well with "lots of windows".
A more open layout *might* help to give a more airy feeling. Someone showed us their Coleman 1705RB once. It has a murphy bed and dinette at the side and has a much more open feeling than our old Catalina 20RD. As an aside, if you like to watch TV, many of the small TTs just don't have a comfortable place to sit down and see the screen and a murphy bed might be the solution for that. - johntinacampingExplorerHow small do you want to go? We started out with one of these and it was a great little trailer: https://www.kz-rv.com/products/sportsmen-classic-travel-trailers/130RB.html
