Vibration feels like tire weight

After about 2000 miles on this trip I'm running down the road at about 67 or so, and suddenly there is a vibration that feels like I threw a tire weight in the front. At first I thought it was just the highway, but after many miles of different road conditions it is still there. It happens between 67 and 70 or a little higher. I checked the wheels for shiny spots where weights might have been... nothing missing.

I checked Ram web sites and found quite a few articles from other Ram owners... of course, lots of parts replaced, no resolution.

My question: Has anyone had the same experience?

If you've had a similar experience... how did you fix the problem?

I will get it out on the highway tomorrow without the fiver and see if it does the same without my 17,000 or so lbs. of enjoyment dragging behind.

  • I would change the tires front to back and see what happens there. You should feel the vibration differently.

If you don't, I was told to drive under power where the vibration is, then shift into neutral. If the vibration lessens it could be the drive shaft. I have had different sets of wheels and tires on mine, and am now convinced it is the driveshaft... but mine is around 45 mph.
  • Have you taken said tire for a balance? It might be a weight missing or could possibly be a belt shifted. My brother had a similar issue and turned out a belt had shifted which caused the vibration. His TV 2013 gmc Yukon 4x4 just a thought
  • When you check those tire weights-check your tires as well. Make sure your tires aren't coming apart. Check for budges or tread separation. Check the age of the tires. A family member driving a Ford F350 felt similar vibration before his front left tire blew apart and nearly wrecked the rig.
