VIDEO ADDED: How To Make Sourdough Pancakes In a ZIPLOC Bag

VIDEO >>> How To Make Sourdough Pancakes in a Ziploc Bag! <<< VIDEO
I'm still camped near Trout Lake, Mt. Adams, and it's 17F degrees outside with 8" snow around me. I've got shore power and full propane so it's staying 70 degrees inside the TC but I can feel the outside cold radiating in on the walls.
I had a hankering to make some sourdough pancakes but a lot of stuff for cooking wasn't put back into the TC after the last big trip thorough cleaning.
As an experiment in enginuity, and hunger, I decided to get creative and try to make sourdough pancakes using a ziploc bag as the mixing vessel. I mixed Fleischmann's yeast with warm water in the ziploc, then added butter milk, flour, and sugar. So far so good, the batter is sitting in the ziploc on the stove doing it's thing till morning when I'll try to finish the mix adding salt, egg, and baking soda. Fortunately I do have butter and Real Maple syrup. Full report on results to follow. Apologies for the yet to be edited video of the whole process.

  • No worries about the bag popping during the night and the yeast invading the camper?? Or did you leave it vented?

Sounds good. Need to try some walnuts in the mix next time if you can. Its a great flavor with the real maple syrup.

Don't laugh but I'll tell you a variant I like. Use apple sauce instead of milk to make the batter with a couple shakes of cinnamon. Equal apple sauce to flour amounts plus a little water, milk, or buttermilk to get right consistency.
    Works great.
