I had a 2016 ram and a 2004 ram. Both 2500 Cummins auto trucks. I can think of at least 10 ways the 2016 was better then the 2004, but aside from emissions the 2004 does nothing better then the 2016. That said I got an amazing offer on my 2016 so I sold it and kept the 2004. I’m in the process of fixing it up now and it is definitely not cheap i’d Say I’m $15,000 in and I haven’t touched paint. That $10,000 is going to get ate up pretty fast with a built transmission, new injectors with filtration, and front end work.
Agreed, bulletproof an old truck AND all the cosmetic stuff if needed is a $20k bill all day. Added to the residual value of an older CR Cummins that is otherwise in decent shape and the roi on a restoration vs new is not that good.
