Yes the DEF trucks do a little better than the 6.7's for a few years before the DEF models.
People complain about DEF, it is mostly a non issue now. Chris
My 04 never got the magical 20+ numbers some claim. I do about 16mpg empty which was the same as my stock 6.7. Deleted the 6.7 did around 18mpg empty and could get into the 22-23mpg range on open flat highway. The 13-+ trucks are geared lower for fuel mileage unless you get a drw.
