We have an 08' LB Crew with 4.10 rear. The wife's daily driver.
Bought new, only issue, so far, GM replaced the interior because the original material was like velcro. Outstanding vehicle for us.
6K# empty. Gets at best 14 mpg. With a 10K# 5thW best is 10-11 Mpg.
Although I fear the weight police will attack quickly, I'm going to add this: "With a few mods, with 4500# wet TC also gets 10-11 mph." Not sure how much improvement you would get with a lighter TC. I'd guess it would be about the same.
About 25K miles hauling or towing on this one, 50K total. Has no problem with either load. Handles well in the mountains.
The gas burner weighs less so will haul more TC than the diesel.(My opinion)
I have the same issue, as the wife will not consider a truck with hips. When I say "will not consider" I'm putting it gently. I think it's the "Napoleon syndrome", she's about 5'1".
