Sorry, guess I was wrong saying 300,000.
My apologies.
It was 500,000.:S
Yeah, that's a large number of pigs that need lipstick. I do hope Chrysler can survive this. Lack of competition in the 3/4 - 1 ton truck market is not good for us consumers.
300K or 500K - No apologies necessary!
The Ram buy-back is an outstanding "deal" for anyone owning one....
-OR- anyone unhappy with what they have, and would prefer a different brand.
-OR- someone looking for a used Ram.
*If* you trade-in (no matter what brand or where), you will negotiate:
1. A lower price for the new truck, and less for your trade-in.
2. A higher value for your trade-in, and a higher price for the new truck.
It is what it is -
no matter what new car or truck is on your wish list...:S
Soooo - you have the option of selling your Ram yourself, to purchase another - or a different brand.
NO trade-in puts you in a much better negotiating position for whatever you wish to buy.
That's a no-brainer!
But now (for affected Rams) you can enjoy a buy-back, no trading, no pp selling........
You get the bucks to do with as you please - buy whatever rings your chimes!
Or - you can have the defects repaired and keep your Ram.
Next item - for those that like/want a Ram - there will be LOTS of
trucks available, as the buy-back trucks can be repaired and re-sold
by the dealers.
Looks like a Win-Win for Ram owners - as well as those that want a used Ram truck...:C
Wish my 2005 was included. - I'd have a new -or newer- Ram.

I researched all three HD pickup makes and made the decision to buy a 2015 RAM 2500. Other than a faulty TPS (dealer replaced all 4 no charge under warranty) and the security software update that I did myself, I've had absolutely no issues. Many passengers comment about how the truck has a luxury ride. The Cummins has the best output and fuel mileage in the class.
I have no regrets and would buy another in a heartbeat.
Ditto. The buyback thing is irrelevant as it relates to the newer HD Rams as they have a completely redesigned suspension. None of these new diesels are perfect and it's up to each buyer to pick out what matters to them and what doesn't. To me the Ram had the best mix of features and drivetrain available when I bought, and so far I don't regret it.
Had I bought before the last Ram redesign, I probably would have a Powerstroke if it was in the 6.7 era. Had I bought in the 6.4/6.0 era, I'd have a GM or Ram. I'm not brand loyal at all so to me vehicle purchases are moving targets. - minnowExplorer

Wonder if there are 300,000 ram owners who aren't happy?
Ouch, I sure am happy I don't own a RAM! Can you say resale value will be going into the toilet?
A couple of very mature, positive and constructive quotes.
Prior to buying my Ram, I've owned 5 Suburbans and several Fords and had no interest in buying a Dodge. Several trucks from both GM and Ford were subject to recalls. I was stranded by my GMC Suburban due to an electrical system failure and my diesel Excursion died right in the middle of a busy intersection due to a CPS failure/vulnerability. No manufacturer is perfect.
I note that virtually all of the recalled Chrysler vehicles were engineered before the Fiat acquisition of Chrysler.

EXACTLY - FrostbitteExplorerI'm happy with my 2011. No major issues other than a steady bearing issue. Love the Laramie trim and it tows great. No real complaints. Ram is my number one choice. After that it would've been ford then gmc. Though 2nd and 3rd place is interchangeable as I haven't tried a new gmc or ford so I'd have to check out what would work best. All 3 make great trucks though.
