Warning Seattle drivers!

Prolly the wrong section but this'll get lots of views from the wet siderrs!
I know a lot of people say this about their city or drivers in general, but w t h is in the water here lately?
List of accidents, incidents, near misses or just general dumb arse attacks seen in the last couple weeks.
Wife run partially off the road, 2 lane.
Wife almost t boned at 4 way intersection. (Kids corroborated moms story and her driving skills btw. Wife credited the handling and speed of her car keeping her out of the accidents.)
Several run of the mill accidents, unknown causes.
People (I won't mention their race, but anyone over here knows who I'm talking about...lol) merging onto freeways at 40 mph, driving slow in the left lane, general inattention crossing lane lines, asleep at the stoplight etc.
Dude almost ran into my parked boat/trailer in a donk. Actually jumped the curb to miss it with his 30" rimz.
2semis flipped over on I 90 different times and spots around Snoq pass.
Pickup KOs a traffic barrel on I 90. I'm next car in line behind him. As I'm serving to avoid the barrel he just spit out and the jersey barrier, he hits the brakes......after the fact. = 60 mph coffee in lap for me, yay. At least avoided it.
Car drives off road onto shoulder at about 75 mph, not bad but then over corrects for no reason and makes it back across her lane and into the next one over! Little traffic, no harm there either.
And the best one........right as wife is telling me about the first 2 I posted that happened in the same day, residential street with cars parked on the side, lifted Tahoe with dubs, rear ends, square, dead on, an old GMC pickup that is ALWAYS parked there. Tahoe looked totaled. Airbag popped and hood look like a Aliner camper! Old truck with big ole steel bumper got bed pushe into cab and bumper folded almost completely under the truck.

While this seems kinda tongue in cheek, it's a real public service warning if you're driving around here in the land of idiot drivers!
  • We do have some great ones, don't we? Coming home with the trailer on Sunday as I was on I-90 coming into Issaquah I had some Dip in a jeep who was merging from the onramp. I was already doing just slightly over the speed limit and she was behind me, but she just couldn't stand to merge behind me, so gunned it and tried to pass me not he right. Had to drive on the shoulder to do it, just to slow down once she finally got in front of me! I gave her a dose of the horn and couldn't stop my finger from waving at her either. Most of the time I try to keep my temper in check, but that set me off. The worst part was it's a 3-lane highway there and all she had to do was merge behind me and then pass me on the left! WTH?! See the same type of BS every day driving to and from work. Just gotta shake my head and realize they're everywhere.
    Rant over.
  • Tom and path1, ha you guys know what I'm talking about!
It's unnatural. Legal weed, Pokemon, WSDOTs blunder of highway upgrades, too many Umm, overseas drivers? Idk
This isn't a sporatic thing, it's almost daily.

    This is everywhere

I only driven a few days in Boston, but I'm sure there are plenty of ding dongs there too.
But dude, I'm tellin ya it ain't this bad everywhere.
I drove around Denver last winter for a week or so. Haven't really been there for a few years. I didn't see the general stupidity or lack of normal driving skills or etiquette.

I've been driving a company pickup for 20 years now, in and out of a half dozen major cities.
Here in Seattle, me and my co workers driving company rigs are routinely called in by "concerned or irate" motorists to the office for driving complaints.
Could read into that as us being unsafe or a hole drivers, but most of us know the drill now and conscientiously drive with this in mind. No, I don't drive slow. I'll drive with traffic if that's 70-60 or 30 mph. I'll let 2x the cars merge at lane drops mist to not get the finger from someone and another call from the office! This compared to being called in twice in the previous 15 years before moving to Seattle. One time I had it coming, passed a lady on a snow packed road and I was doing about 85 mph...In 2wd! No harm, straight road for miles. Other time was a guy called the cops in ALbq on me. They came to the office (when cops actually responded to things like this). Said I passed him like he was standing still, had to be going 80-90 mph! Idk what his issue was, but I happened to be driving an old loaner truck with straight 6, granny Lo 4 speed and a bad tire vibe! When I showed the cop the truck and the reason I couldn't have possibly done that he laughed!
I've been called for "going at least 60 on HWy 18". Speed limit is 60!
Talking on the phone. (Yeah whatever, was a few years ago)
Not using my turn signal. Again, whatever, maybe I didn't. Usually do, But it was a right turn only lane! Who the f cares!
And a few for passing on a 2 lane! Hey Nitz, you're doing 30 in a 45 and that's what the dotted line is for. It's 5:45am on Wednesday , not Sunday afternoon. If you're offended you got passed, speed up! I'm sorry if your pos 1993 granola mobile Subaru with a "Clinton" sticker in the back window from the slick willy days can't go any faster. Or maybe it can. Put the doobie down and step on the skinny pedal!
Guess what the call was about today? Lol

And it's not like I've been stockpiling stupid driver stunts for a while. Most of these are from the last week or so! And 4 or 5 from the last 2 days!
  • You just know notice this? Get out of Black Diamond more:B OK joking.

I can't change others people driving habits, although I'd like to. I pretend every other driver is out to get me and drive accordingly. After a close call I think about what if anything I could of done to prevent it.

(I see you have an older Dodge in your profile. I've got an old one also. Couple weeks ago I called our insurance company to see if there is any type of insurance I could buy in case some nut takes me out. Big difference between what they are worth and a new one. It's going to hurt me if I have to replace mine because of someone else's driving).
  • It seems the whole state. coming home yesterday just north of the Conway exit on I-5 I'm doing my 75 in a 70 zone in the middle lane of 3 lanes and get passed by a sedan, doing pretty much of 100 MPH. they drift off the left shoulder, yank it back, and looses it, skidding all the way across 3 lanes exiting the freeway to the right, flip it, and end up 100' off the highway upside down in a ditch.

Less than 2 minutes, the north bound traffic was stopped all the way south of 300th street exit, yep 4:00 commuter traffic.
I'm ready to quit using the freeway. 20 miles of dirt road is better.
Every week this summer the rails of Deception pass bridge has been hit by gawkers.
  • I've always thought Seattle had a better than avg number of bad drivers. Only city I've lived in where the left lane is the slow lane for someone every day. Maybe not enough road rage shootings to teach the left lane loafers a lesson?? Idk
Hwy 18 around tiger mtn seems to avg at least 2 accidents a week, many of them are bad.
Auburn Black Diamond road, driven multiple times daily by us averages a bad accident evey month or 2 it seems! It's a slow little 2 lane without any real hills or blind corners!
And they're bad accidents. Few deaths, many totaled cars and quite a few upside down in the ditch or someone's yard!

Is Pokemon to blame, or just texting with no driving skills to begin with??
