I am surprised no one has mentioned Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, North of Newport, or Yachats and Cape Perpetua, South of Newport. Those are the 2 most amazing areas on the entire Oregon Coast.
South West of Coos Bay, is Charleston, with all the fresh seafood you could ask for. Shore acres State Park, West of Charleston is beyond incredible with one of the best State Parks...Sunset Bay.
A little more South, you get to Bandon, which also has excellent seafood and is a quaint little town.
You could spend months on the Oregon Coast, and not experience half of what it has to offer.
Washington
North Cascades National Park is huge. They have a great visitors center, and the view from Baker Lake Rd is beautiful.
We have been in Washington for a couple weeks, and so far, the best places we've been is N Cascades, Deception Pass, San Juan Island, and Orcas Island.
Cannot speak for the Port Townsend/ Olympic National Park yet. We are headed there tomorrow.
Have a great trip.
