Thanks for proving my point!
BTW here are some water pump prices. Maybe a half hour job with the Cummins, about 4 hours with a Duramax and you’ll also need to buy the flywheel lock. But we all know they didn’t have over-heating issues :W
But if they do overheat, we can find video proof of one intentionally errantly loaded running in limp mode that is able to pull up to a Cummins at highway speeds. :P
Cummins 5.9 water pump price
Mine is still original I might add., and weap hole is still clear.
Duramax 01-05 water pump price

On edit....
Here is the cost of a 89-93 Cummins water pump
LINK - travelnutzExplorer IIThe OP's thread subject is about the 2 millionth Cummins engine built for the Dodge/Ram not about how long it takes to change a water pump.
2 million engines is great for Cummins. However, spread out over their 24 years of production it's only 83,333 engines per year and that's not an impressive number. Their competition building diesels for their HD pickup trucks have built 1-1/2+ as many per year during their years of production build. Yes, even the Ford with the 6.0 and 6.4 PSD issues!
Give Cummins the credit they deserve but don't act like it's the did all end all as it is NOT! - Engineer9860Explorer
- travelnutzExplorer IIAnother rookie backyard mechanic heard from! Some of us have or had a business to run and saving a couple bucks on labor and taking a hour to several hours of an expensive professional engineers time to do repairs to vehicles actually cost many times what the dealer service labor costs are. However, I doubt Rico would understand that as it's likely far beyond his paygrade!
Again, a Dodge/Ram cheerleader has to search to find something different on another brand to make his pride and joy look like it's the greatest in his eyes. Surely displays his doubt! However, all these games the Dodge/Ram pom pom boys play still hasn't elevated their beloved to even 20% of their 33-1/3% of the pickup truck sales segment. Keep on trying boys! - 45RicochetExplorer

LINK - travelnutzExplorer IIHannibal,
Yes the 89-93 had a mechanical fuel lift pump and the pump's actuator arm had experienced many breakages. Fuel is lifted up to the engine by the pump from the lower mounted fuel tank as liquid doesn't flow uphill. Google it and learn something!

I had made absolutely no reference in any way to the very problematic later used Cummins lift pump as it wasn't if it would fail but when and how many times if replaced with the OEM pump.
The truck was a 2WD and was towed from the business on it's front wheels with the rear up. Was back the next day fixed. FYI, an engineering business is a professional office not a rookie backyard mechanic's grease pit like you may have and repairs are not done or allowed in the parking lot of a business office. Perhaps this is news to you? - DirtyOilExplorer
Don't ya love this. All this gas over Cummins building their 2,000,000 th. diesel engine for Ram. Hey Cummins, Congrats!
agree!! typed on a computer assembled in my home from parts made in China... - MM49ExplorerThis thread is a celebration of a near perfect production of light duty diesel engine. When Cummins started the 5.9 there was hardly a market for automotive diesel in North America. General Motors had all but destroyed it with a series of engines that were lucky to make it past warranty. travelnutz would have you remember this as one of GM's sterling achievements.
MM49 - coolbreeze01ExplorerAll over a video. I guess F&GM don't have any?
- Engineer9860ExplorerTrying to prove the other guy wrong has gone to the next level. Lol.
