Hannibal,
Your sure do claim you know a lot about me as you know absolutely nothing and never will. True, I'm not a union puppet blowhard know-it-all slave go-getter grease monkey working at the behest of the management of an elevator company like you nor would I want to be. I have controlled my own destiny by being self-employed and employing others rather than being led by the nose ring like you.
As for my mechanical knowledge or skills, why don't you ask "silversand" or over a dozen other members of this forum who actually know my hands-on mechanical knowledge and skills or have worked for me in the past. You just may become a little bit better educated! Conversing with you is like talking to a vacuum chamber. Void, nothing, Empty!
I have much better things to do with my time! You can go back to your cave now!
Now back to the OP's thread subject!
I know enough about you to know that you're the know-it-all blowhard clammy hands book worm GM puppet. You've already stated that you're far above actually working on even a 20 minute simple repair such as a Cummins 5.9L water pump. I have no shame in being a union elevator mechanic. Honest work for honest pay. Something you know nothing about. I have also controlled my own destiny. My position in life is entirely by choice. And you contradict yourself as usual. If you truly had something better to do with your time, you wouldn't have bothered to post your latest post. And if you were truly wealthy and successful as you claim to be, you wouldn't be waisting your time arguing your fabricated stories with a lowly union grease monkey elevator mechanic. You can't even launch an effective personal attack. So carry on... - travelnutzExplorer IIHannibal,

Hannibal,
Yes the 89-93 had a mechanical fuel lift pump and the pump's actuator arm had experienced many breakages. Fuel is lifted up to the engine by the pump from the lower mounted fuel tank as liquid doesn't flow uphill. Google it and learn something!
Paste:
89-93 Dodge 5.9L Cummin...
$119.00
Pure Diesel Pump
I had made absolutely no reference in any way to the very problematic later used Cummins lift pump as it wasn't if it would fail but when and how many times if replaced with the OEM pump.
The truck was a 2WD and was towed from the business on it's front wheels with the rear up. Was back the next day fixed. FYI, an engineering business is a professional office not a rookie backyard mechanic's grease pit like you may have and repairs are not done or allowed in the parking lot of a business office. Perhaps this is news to you?
I don't need to Google it. I already knew this. You're the one pulling fictitious problems out of the air trying to make a case for your disdain for Dodge and Cummins.
And yes I'm fully aware of your geeky pencil pusher book reference job as you have no mechanical knowledge or skills whatsoever. Therefor you should probably refrain from making up problems on vehicles you've never owned for parts that didn't exist. I no longer even own a Dodge. But I'm not going to deny the fact that the Cummins is the best engine ever put in a pickup truck. And the truck itself has proven five times to me to be one of the best as well. - mr__edExplorerI was listening to a call-in talk show on the radio this morning in Kingman, AZ. The hosts of the show are mechanics who own auto service businesses. Someone called in with a question concerning which diesel truck to buy (Ford, Chevy or Dodge). Without hesitation one of the mechanics answered "Dodge", due to the Cummins engine. Although he admitted ALL the diesel brands were good trucks he was seeing far fewer Dodges w/Cummins needing service than the other two brands (no, I don't work for Chrysler/Dodge :)).

Maybe if you talk really nice, the Dodge/Ram Cummins loyalists and cheerleaders will reimburse you for the materials you had purchased. But, don't hold your breath waiting! - thomasmnileExplorerKnock it off y'all or Marty will come along and put you in time out!

The OP's thread subject is about the 2 millionth Cummins engine built for the Dodge/Ram not about how long it takes to change a water pump.
2 million engines is great for Cummins. However, spread out over their 24 years of production it's only 83,333 engines per year and that's not an impressive number. Their competition building diesels for their HD pickup trucks have built 1-1/2+ as many per year during their years of production build. Yes, even the Ford with the 6.0 and 6.4 PSD issues!
Give Cummins the credit they deserve but don't act like it's the did all end all as it is NOT!
Does this mean I have to tear down the altar I was in the midst of building? I was already to believe it was more than I thought it was. :w
