Water damage - moldy floor

On the last trip, we noticed a soft floor in the bathroom, close to the wall (away from toilet). Today, I pulled up the linoleum, and had moldy, soft plywood along the wall, and back toward the toilet. I pulled the toilet out, and then was able to pull up the linoleum from wherever the glue had given out (photo):

The top part of the photo is the side of the tub. I was able to inspect under the tub by crawling under the adjacent bed and looking/feeling through the access hole. The floor is solid there, as well as under the bathroom sink. Neither area shows the 'graying' on the linoleum that appears over the water-damaged plywood. It looks as if the damage started near the outside wall. There are some gaps in the caulk out there. My plan is to recaulk all around, then cut out and replace the moldy/damaged plywood. I'll pull all the bathroom linoleum and replace it as well.

I welcome any suggestions from anyone whose 'been there.' Aside from some exterior delamination I was able to repair with the 2-part epoxy, this is my first major repair on the TT. This is a 2006 Jayco JayFeather 29Y.

  • When you get done replacing the damage, I'd suggest you do a pressurized leak test to find any other leaks. The results may surprise you.
  • Sounds like you have it covered, not much different than repairing a house...if you have any specific questions fire away...post up some AFTER pics...
  • By the way, the plywood that appears less damaged next to the wall on the right actually had the most damage. I had already peeled off the top layer of plywood that separating from the base. The rest of the black plyood is still relatively solid.
