Water filter for drinking water only?

And I believe that is absolutely WRONG.

Any highly rated charcoal filter for home use should do fine for an RV too. Except.....that you need to pay special attention to keeping the fresh water tank disinfected if it sits idle for long periods. "Stuff" can grow in the filters too.

I think a filter pitcher might be a better solution overall.

Um ... sorry ... no they don't. I've never seen a TT come out of the factory with a water filter already installed. Maybe an Excel, but nothing else. They might be installed in Motor Homes, but even then, I don't recall seeing too many that actually do.

Quite a few trailers, both 5th wheel and regular trailers, are coming with under counter water filters and seperate faucets on the kitchen sink. Ours came with one right out of the factory way back in 2004.
It uses a filter like this.

I like to use a Seychelle "extreme" filter on the water from my campers tank. Been doing it for 2 years with no problems.

Sure they do. Just ask the salesman. :B

The faucet filters work, but they are clunky and terribly in the way.

I use a Brita or Pur filter in a pitcher. Both the filters and pitchers are available at Walmart.

For the OP: A simple solution you can try that is not expensive at all, is to get one of those PUR filters that attaches to the end of your faucet at the sink. They cost around $20 and do a pretty remarkable job. However, the water coming from the "filter" is always a trickle, compared to the normal flow. So you have to be a bit patient if filling water for your coffee pot!

The nice thing about these are, you put the attachment on the faucet and then the filter just snaps on. You can take the filter off when on the road, so the bouncing weight won't stress out the faucet.

It's just a thought, and the simplest least evasive action you can take for the biggest bang for your "buck."

Plus, you can purchase one almost anywhere, even Wall Mart, and replacement filters are sold everywhere too.

Don't make this harder than it has to be. There is no need to install a in-line filter when something like THIS , for under $20.00, installed on the faucet will do.

As a second thought.....if you are filling the onboard fresh water tank, why not fill it with fresh water you don't mind drinking. Do you filter your water at home???? Fill up at home, drink the water from the tap like you do at home.

I believe that all RVs come with a filter system already installed under your sink. Maybe it is just time to replace your filters. If you do not have a filter system, contact the manufacture of RV and they should be able to tell you what filter system to install.
