This is what I have done due to some questionable water I took on board from a well, ironically on a family member's property, more than 4 years ago. While it was safe, it was just very hard water. So I have since used a Brita Water Filter pitcher for when I need drinking water or for cooking. It works really well and the filter cartridges have always been readily available to purchase. So with all the places I have gotten water, I have stayed in really good condition and have not expired, as of yet. :B
