Water Pump Woes

Hey guys. I took my TC camping for the first time a few months back and ran into a somewhat big problem. I flipped the switch to run the water pump, it kicks on and runs, and runs, and runs, and runs..... you get the picture. So I open all the faucets thinking it has air in the lines. It seemed to help but it still runs. What seems to be the problem?

  • Check the suction hose between the tank and the pump . Check all the hose clamps and fittings . It is most likely an air leak on the suction side .
  • Only speculation, but I'd guess that your water pump needs to be either repaired or replaced. Probably less of a hassle, to replace it with new.
If the pump seals are leaking by, the pump won't build up the pressure that it needs to "cut off"...so, it will continue to run and run and run.

If you think you are getting good pressure, it may be the pressure switch that isn't working.

How old is the pump? Has it been sitting for an extended period of time, allowing the seals and impeller to dry out, and maybe crack?

With RV equipment, the "Use it or lose it" phrase really means what it says!

    Good luck.
