water pump

My pump isn't working. I have power going to it but it doesn't run. Its a new camper, a bit over a year old and the only time I used the pump was last fall to winterize it.
Any ideas??

When my pump when out I first checked the fuse - then tested the pump by applying 12 volt power directly to pump (it worked) - then I checked the pump switches in kitchen/bathroom etc (they worked) - and concluded it was the pump relay which was the problem. The relay (which allows bathroom/kitchen/shower switches to operate pump) isn't that expensive ... but it's location varies on each rig and is often a PIA to find/replace.

My dealer told me to do what you are recommending also. I'm gonna try that now.

Ok took the battery charger out and hooked it directly to the pump still not turning on.

SO you have multiple pump ON/Off Switches vs just one main switch?

Multiple switches are 'momentary' switches that are used with a pump controller.....that make up the ground side of circuit.

Here is some info on controllers typically used

Do you mean that the power is actually getting to the pump or is there power at the circuit breaker box?
Is there an inline fuse in the power wiring?

Took off the wire nuts on the positive and negative pump leads, connected the tester and turned on the pump switch, tester light went on, indicating that the pump is getting power.

I do not see any type of in line fuse.

  • I'm sure you have done this but check breaker and all the wiring connections they could have come loose
