Wax / Sealant + Black Plastic

Well the new truck has the common black plastic everwhere. In the past I've liked the results from Nu-Finish on paint, but that stuff leaves a lot of white residue on plastic. One vehicle I even resorted to taping off the plastic, but that's too much work.

Last couple of times on the Jeep and truck I've used Turtle Wax Ice. It does not leave white on plastic, as claimed. And it doesn't leave much protection on the paint either! It does not provide much of a slick feeling even when fresh, and within a month sap, bird droppings and bugs are sticking and staining as if the truck had bare paint.

So... any products out there that WILL protect the paint and WON'T be a PITA around the plastics? I'm up for anything- have considered the DIY sealants etc as well as traditional waxes.

Thanks for your time.

  • I really like "Back to Black" by Mothers. Works great on black and on colors too. Have used it for years with great results on black, then the wife read the instructions and they said it was good for color too. So tried it on the brown fiberglass of our TT and it worked great there too.
  • On black trim I like Black Again. Works well.
On the body I like Collinite Fleetwax.
