Waxing a TT

I have read posts that say when waxing a TT do not wax the decals. In the past I have used McGuires and avoided the decals but what a chore that was. Are there any waxes out there that don’t hurt the decals?
  • I have always waxed the whole thing, decals and all. I have never had a problem with fading except age, they all tend to fade after awhile.
  • Does anyone know how to get the excess glue off of the decals? The trailer is brand new and has a haze on some of the graphics which I believe is the glue from the decals.I need to wash and wax first nice day we get here in NY.
    Thanks

Same here. In fact, I use the Aerospace 303 just on the decals in between washing and waxing to help preserve them.
  • I waxed every inch of our TT at least yearly and this is what it looked like after 13 years (the day I traded it in). Just don't grind into the graphics and they will be fine with waxing. New TT gets the same treatment.
It's the sun that damages them.

BTW, I use what ever wax is on sale, usually Turtle or Mcguires.

My decals since 07 and all the decals but the front look like new, no fading but minor cracking here and there (you have to be looking at it from a couple feet to see them. The front is faded and cracking but that is due to it getting beaten up on the road.
  • Waxing, no waxing is a huge debate. Everyone has an opinion on right or wrong. Personally I waxed my decals for 11 years. Yea, they eventually failed. So what, they were in the weather 24/7/365 so it was expected. The cheezy vinyl used by most manufacturers is designed to fail after three or four years anyhow.
