I recently setup my FastwayE2 WD hitch/built in sway control system for my new trailer following the manufacture WD hitch setup procedure, and now although the trailer pulls fine the hitch seems to have become very loud(creaking,popping) compared to when it was setup and used on my old trailer.The only changes that were made are as follows:-Longer 2" hitch shank (went from 8" to 10" to allow tailgate to open when trailer is hitched)-WD bars were upgraded from 800lb to 1000lb tongue weight bars to accomadate new trailers loaded tongue weight.Unloaded tw is 570lbs, loaded up ready to camp weighed in between 800-810lbsAnyone have any idea why now it has become very loud? It used to make some noise on the old trailer but not as loud or noticable as now.

Hitches make noise, it's normal. It's probably louder now because you have a bigger tt with a heavier tongue weight. Higher weight requires more tension on the bars to achieve proper weight distribution which causes more stress and friction on the brackets.

Groaning, and popping is proof that it is working. If mine was suddenly silent I would be concerned that something feel off!

ours makes a few odd noises soon after hooking up the wd systemours sounds like the hitch on the truck is loose!!(it isn't)

Should not be a problem...mine makes noises and pops..DW says what is that....I say...suppose to do that. It really gets it when I crank down on the Friction Sway Bar that I have.

Thanks all for the responses. Maybe im just being paranoid about how much noise I hear now, another thought I had:
Maybe when I had it on my previous trailer it wasnt set up properly.. I recall the dealership not spending much time installing it. I acually went through and measured and installed according to manufactures directions on my new trailer.

Noise doesn't hurt. Turn up the stereo. Means it's working right.

Jack the tongue jack higher and it will be easier to get the bars on.

I also have to use the cheater bar now. I attribute that to the heavier tongue weight combined with the fact the new trailer is higher. The new trailer is so much higher I may have to get a higher hitch to get the hitch ball to the same height as the trailer coupler. It's close now but could stand to be a little higher. If u don't want to use the cheater put a block of wood under the jack leg to get more height.

I have the E2 hitch with the same weight bars as yours. I recently changed trailers and had to set up the hitch for the new trailer. It was much noisier initially as well but I have made a couple of trips and it has gotten quieter with use. In my experience they always make noise when turning or going slow on uneven ground.

Another change now is I ALWAYS have to use the "snap-up/cheater bar" in order to get the WD bars up onto the saddles, when previously I didnt need them everytime.

Havent noticed unusual wear, but Ive only pulled it twice since setting it up. I will have to keep an eye on it.
