How is the dry weight of that camper calculated? It likely doesn't include any batteries or propane. It may not include options that are on the camper from the factory. How light will you pack?
Probably, if you have a truck with no options or accessories, a camper with no options or accessories, and you pack very light and travel solo you will just be okay.
If it were me I'd go for a 2500 series truck so I didn't have to spend money on different tires, rims, air bags, etc. And so I didn't have to count every pound of cargo.
My own camper weights about 15% more dry than the sticker indicates.
Thanks for these insights. I would much rather have a heavier duty truck. However, a Ford F250 or Silverado 2500 cost about $5,000 more than the Tundra. That puts them out of my price range. I'm assuming that tires, wheels, air bags and sway bar to upgrade the Tundra won't cost more than $2,000. To get a comparable price on the Ford or Chevy, I would have to go back to a 2006 or 2007 which was two previous generation from today's models.
