Since this campers center of gravity is so far forward of the rear axle (Being that it's so short at 6.2 feet floor length and the truck has a long bed), I'm thinking about 1,500 pounds on the rear axle and 300 pounds on the front axle. That leaves 400 pounds available on the rear axle and 500 pounds available on the front axle. Add in my own body weight and the weight of enhancements to the trucks suspension and I should still be below the axles ratings. Am I on track with this?
No, you are likely incorrect. In almost all cases the weight of any cabover camper is largely over the rear axle. Very little is added to the front axle. You can work the numbers to be anything you want, but it likely won't be reality. A scale will tell you reality. And just as real are the folks that have taken time to try to answer your questions here. They know what they are talking about. It is starting to sound like your mind is made up and you are looking for assurance that you are going to be OK. Better, just go get a good pre-owned 250/2500 or even a 350/3500. You will thank everybody here.
