I have an Equalizer 12K. I do not unhitched unless we're using the truck at the end of the day, I just lower the jack to take some pressure off the truck/bars. If I do unhitched, I simply remove the receiver pin and replace it with a pin lock.
I don't like to tow with the pin lock because it is a smaller diameter and is loose within the assembly.
