- Rangerman40ExplorerI use an Andersen WDH with my F250 even though my camper is just a shade over 6k lbs. I use it primarily for the sway control.
- HGLExplorerWe went from a F150 to the F350 with our 2014 TimberRidge 270DBHS - we still use our WDH (Equalizer), just don't have to adjust as much. Dear hubby barely notices the TT now in the 350 and pulling away at 70mph up vantage was a nice feeling in the 350.
Enjoy when you get your new truck and no sense going out and buying new hitches since you already have the old, just make sure you adjust to fit the new truck! - hawkeye-08Explorer IIIWe often return from our trips at night and without WDH, I constantly had oncoming traffic flashing their lights thinking I had my high beams on. I could have adjusted my headlights or added airbags, but I went ahead and put the proper WDH on and it is great. also, we often come home with waste tanks partially full.
- bcsslcExplorerI have a trailer that go's about 33'from bumper to bumper and weighs in at around 9500-10k. I tow with a 2014 ram 3500. I have towed with and without a wdh (equlizer) . I much prefer towing with the WHD. It helps with sway control in windy conditions and I don't feel the trailer back there. If you already have it I'd use it.

I was just reacting to your asinine statement on P.1 of this thread. My opinion also.

- CavemanCharlieExplorer IIII didn't read all 3 pages of this thread. To the OP my answer is;
OH GOD NO !
I'm not responsible for any injuries you may incur.
But, for god sake you could put a mountain on the bumper of that thing and it would not even know it's there.
This is some sort of joke right?
Let me say again, if you are even asking the question then you probably need one.
For me I would laugh and drag it up and down pikes peak at 80 mph .
But, that's just me.
Have a nice Day - shum02ExplorerLike everyone is saying and I'll say it again. Do NOT fight the suspension on these big trucks. They loved weight on them and will handle just fine with weight that would have a 150/1500 series truck on it's knees begging for mercy. On my 1000lb Eazi-Lift bars I have them at 4 links, the least amount of compression recommended by Eazi-Lift, there is no measureable compression to the front end. Hitch head is back as far as it will go and the trailer rides level with 900lbs of TW and no WD bars installed. Don't fight 'em, they will push back.

But, assuming the OP isn't going to be towing an empty trailer, it might be better to consider the potential loaded TW instead of the published Dry Hitch Weight.
The 2011 29BHS has a published UVW of 5475# and GVWR of 7700#.
IMO, it's not at all unreasonable to think that the OP's 29BHS might have a loaded TW around 1000#.
For example -- 7000# GVW and 14% TW% gives TW = 980#.
The OP can choose what he wants to do.
One choice is to follow what Ford says,
and Ford's specifications are pretty clear.

Lots of "Assumes", "Considers" and "Thinks". I repeat, get the thing weighed and you will know more than all the guessers online. While I would not suggest that anyone disregard Ford's suggestions, I also know that I towed a similar trailer for thousands of trouble free miles without a weight distributing hitch when I had my 2005 F-250. - GaryWTExplorerMy WD is also my sway so when I got the 350 last year I put it on and adjusted it to bring the 1 inch rise of the front down a half inch.. Works great.
