Game of Thrones is the first in a series of novels written by George Martin. There are five books in the series. The TV series is taken from these. The books are actually quite good, well written and intelligent. I am not normally a fan of this genre, but for these I made an exception and have not been disappointed. I think it's the best of the genre since Lord of the Rings. And while it is classified as "Fantasy" it is all so familiar and real it doesnt seem like that at all. Why not read it.
