I've got a ram 2500 with the 3.42 and it does a good job towing here in the Ozark and Ouachita mountains. I wish they offered a 3.73 but I don't really have any complaints. I have always thought the 3.73 was just about the best gear ratio for towing and everyday driving. I don't tow heavy though. I think I'm rated for 17, 000 and change but I'll never get close to that. My TT is right around 7800 fully loaded.
