I towed 29K combined with 3.42's and it did great, only negative was getting the load rolling on an incline. Now that the Aisin is available that problem is solved. My recommendation for anyone buying a Dually that do have the choice of gearing get the 3.42's up to 27K combined or so and over that the 4,10's both with Aisin for sure. Forget the 3.73's. The 3.73's are the same rpm's in 5th as the 4.10 in 6th. Bonus with the 3.42's is better economy unloaded.
I'm quite happy with the 3.73's thank you. Not nearly as much downshifting while towing and still good rpm's and fuel economy while driving solo. I've had 4.10's in previous trucks and would only get them in a Ram if towing extremely heavy.
