What Accessories/Options Are Must Have?

Mostly meant accessories. If you were buying your first TT and knew then what you know now. What would be the first things you went out and bought to go with your TT?

Got another post going about buying at an RV show and this is only semi related. Being completely new to the RV life of camping and with loan approval were planning on getting something real soon, like one week to four months.

So give me a list of must haves or things I might not think of that are needed that don't come with a trailer. If you want, list them in order of preference/importance. Things like solar panel, surge protector, ice maker, leveling blocks/chocks, tv satellite, electrical or plumbing adapters. (Yea, that was just a quick look at the sale page on Camping World site)

Complete trailer noob here and don't know what I actually must buy and or would want that would just be nice to have.

TIA,
Robert

  • Walkie-Talkies - so my DW can guide me into our spot without yelling or other drama. We also use them to communicate when verifying all the lights are working on the TT, slide coming out, stabs coming down, etc.
  • 1. A nice floor mat to wipe your feet before you come inside.
    2. Good quality sewer hose and connections.
    3. Tire chalks to keep your trailer from moving when you unhook. X-chocks are even better.
    4. Good level.
    5. Camp chairs for outside use.
    6. Grill for outside cooking
    7. Sticks for roasting marshmallows or cooking hotdogs.
    8. Solar or generator for recharging your batteries if you'll be dry camping.

I can keep going if you'd like.
  • power adapters, up and down from the size of your connection (if you have 30 amp, you need 30 to 15 and 50 down to 30).. buy ones that are bigger, not just the hockey puck type.

for me, I had dealer install a large level on the front, it is marked so I can tell without getting out of truck if one side needs to go up 1 to 4 inches. really makes getting level easier.. I think this is absolutely my favorite addition.

Covers for the roof vents... can leave the vent open and don't have to worry about rain coming in.

when I bought my new TT, dealer installed for free any things I bought from him that day.
  • Grill (Gas or Charcoal). We prefer the weber q200. We also purchased the stand and cover for ours. a NOAA weather radio. we also have siruis-xm sat radio that can snap in our TV, trailer, or box for outside. comfy chairs. portable table. small tarp to throw over things when awning needs to be up. outdoor mat to wipe feet on. one of the most important things to always have with you is patience!
