No way would I leave an RV unattended at Wallyworld. It would disappear in a hurry. Each RV type has its plussez and minuses. You need to figure out how your going to use an RV. Trailers are best parked for a few days or more at a time in one place. Motor homes are better moving every couple of days. Trailers have a lower overall total cost of ownership. Fivers tow much better but require more substantial tow vehicle.
I disagree with most of this.
1. Leaving a trailer at Walmart violates the hospitality offered by Walmart. But that alone does not mean it will "disappear in a hurry." In many if not most locations it will be very safe.
2. Trailers are best when they are used and enjoyed, not "parked for a few days or more in one place."
3. Motor homes are best when they are used and enjoyed, not "moving every couple of days."
To the OP:
A tow behind, whether it be a travel trailer or fifth wheel, is a great way to enter the RV experience. Purchase prices can be more budget friendly, and many families already own an acceptable tow vehicle. After parking the RV, the tow vehicle can then be used for site seeing, grocery runs, etc.
A motor home, whether a class a or class c, are often easier to drive than a tow behind. Most have an on board generator, so running the A/C and microwave is possible when stopped anywhere without hook ups. They are often more expensive than tow behinds, and require towing a vehicle behind if you want to leave the RV at a campsite and still go site seeing, grocery, etc.
A great way to help you decide what is best for you is to go to a RV. Look at all the RVs, but leave your check book at home. You will get a lot of pressure to buy now!
